Creating a Digital Home
for the Music
Where the music lives, is discovered, and supported...
The Vision
A digital home built around the music
The goal of this project is to create a welcoming, easy-to-navigate digital home for the Happy Sessions catalog — a place where listeners can explore the music, watch and listen to featured sessions, and purchase CDs, LPs, and digital recordings.
The site will be designed to feel warm, timeless, and true to the spirit of the music, while making it simple for fans to discover, listen, and support the work.
The Big Picture
What this site is designed to do
This project brings together the Happy Sessions music, video, and recordings into a single, thoughtfully designed website. The Happy Sessions Listening Room will function as both a listening experience and a straightforward way to purchase physical and digital releases.
The focus throughout is clarity, ease of use, and creating an experience that feels consistent with the music itself.
Built on an Existing Creative Partnership
Extending the work that’s already been done
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to design and produce the artwork for each Happy Sessions volume, as well as the full-color physical album, including the fold-out design revealing liner notes, credits, and supporting information.
Because of that work, I’m already deeply familiar with the music, the structure of the catalog, and the care that’s gone into presenting each release. This project simply extends that same attention and consistency into a digital space, ensuring the website feels like a natural continuation of the physical recordings.

How People Will Experience the Site
Simple, intuitive, and music-forward
The Happy Sessions Listening Room will be organized to guide visitors naturally through the music, with clear navigation and an intuitive layout.
Whether someone is discovering Happy Sessions for the first time or returning to purchase a favorite volume, the experience will feel familiar, uncluttered, and enjoyable.
A Look That Fits the Music
Warm, timeless, and unobtrusive
The overall design of The Happy Sessions Listening Room will be music-forward, allowing the recordings and artwork to take center stage.
Visual choices will support the tone of Happy Sessions without overpowering it, creating a space that feels intentional, inviting, and familiar.
The Music Catalog
Volumes, albums, and recordings — clearly organized
The Happy Sessions catalog includes 12 volumes of music, each containing approximately 18–21 songs, along with a physical album release.
Each volume and album will have its own dedicated page, featuring:
- Artwork
- Descriptions
- Listening samples
- Clear purchasing options
Everything will be organized to support discovery, collecting, and repeat listening.
Listening Comes First
Audio samples and video woven throughout
Audio samples and video clips will be integrated throughout the site, allowing visitors to experience the Happy Sessions music before purchasing and supporting discovery and repeat listening.
The focus is on creating a relaxed, listening-room-style experience that invites people to slow down and spend time with the music. By combining audio and video in an intentional, unobtrusive way, the site encourages deeper engagement and makes the transition from listening to supporting the work feel natural and unforced. The goal is to keep the experience inviting rather than transactional.
Simple, Thoughtful Purchasing
Physical and digital releases without friction
The site will use WooCommerce to handle physical products (CDs and LPs) as well as digital downloads.
Clean checkout flow
Automatic digital delivery
Minimal distractions
Purchasing is designed to feel effortless and unobtrusive, keeping the focus on the music.
Works Across Devices
Optimized for today’s most common devices
The site will be fully responsive and optimized for phones, tablets, and desktops.
Pages will load quickly and function smoothly across devices, ensuring a consistent experience for all visitors.
Grows with the Music
New releases without starting over
The Happy Sessions Listening Room will be built with growth in mind, allowing for new volumes, additional sessions, and expanded content without requiring a redesign.
A Clear, Comfortable Timeline
Steady progress without rushing
The project will move through four clear phases, from planning through launch, with flexibility based on content availability and priorities.
Phase 1 :
Discovery & Planning
Week 1–2
Finalize scope and launch priorities
Confirm catalog structure and volumes included at launch
Gather artwork, audio samples, and any video assets
Establish overall visual direction and site flow
Phase 2 :
Design & Layout
Week 3–4
Page layout and structure finalized
Visual styling applied across the site
Product and catalog templates created
Listening and viewing experience planned
Phase 3 :
Development & Catalog Setup
Week 5–7
WordPress and WooCommerce configuration
Music catalog built (CDs, LPs, digital downloads)
Audio samples and video content integrated
Checkout and digital delivery tested
Phase 4 :
Review, Testing & Launch
Week 8–9
Final review and refinements
Mobile and performance testing
Launch preparation and go-live
Post-Launch (Optional)
Ongoing hosting and support
Additional volumes or content phased in
Minor refinements based on real-world use
Choosing the Right Web Address
A practical decision with long-term impact
As part of planning the site, I looked into domain availability for The Happy Sessions.
Two strong domain options are available:
• TheHappySessions.com
• HappySessions.com
While TheHappySessions.com is cost-effective and usable, HappySessions.com is the cleaner, more memorable option and preferable from a long-term branding perspective. Either option works well and can be decided based on comfort and budget.
The final selection can be made based on preference, with the understanding that the domain will be secured under client ownership prior to or at kickoff.
What’s Included at Launch
A clear snapshot of scope
WordPress website build
WooCommerce setup
Happy Sessions catalog and product pages
Audio samples and video integration
Mobile-responsive design
Basic performance optimization
Media Storage & Content Management
We’ll start with Dropbox as the initial storage solution for media and content assets. It’s familiar, reliable, and easy for your team to access and share files right away. As content volume and usage grow, we can revisit the storage approach and decide if a different or more specialized solution makes sense. Any additional content creation or editing beyond the initial site build can be handled as needed and scoped separately.
Project Investment
Based on refinement and depth of experience
This project includes the full Happy Sessions catalog, with all 12 volumes presented within The Happy Sessions Listening Room at launch. The investment reflects the level of refinement and depth of the listening experience, rather than differences in basic functionality.
For a project of this scope — including a complete music catalog, integrated listening experiences, and e-commerce for physical and digital releases — the investment typically falls within:
$4,500 – $6,500
Projects toward the lower end focus on a clean, efficient launch, while projects toward the upper end reflect a more intentional listening experience and are typically the better fit for a complete catalog launch.
Lower Range: $4,500
(Lean Launch)
A streamlined version of the site focused on getting core content live efficiently.
Includes:
Core website structure and page layout
Essential content pages (Home, About, Music, Contact)
Basic WooCommerce setup for physical or digital products
Standard styling using existing brand direction
Desktop-first build with responsive adjustments
Best suited for an initial online presence with room to expand later.
Upper Range: $6,500
(Full Experience – Recommended)
A more complete, future-ready platform designed to showcase the music, story, and full catalog in a polished, immersive way.
Includes everything above, plus:
Expanded page structure and storytelling flow
Enhanced presentation of all 12 volumes
Integrated audio and video listening experiences
Refined design details, motion, and visual hierarchy
Optimization for usability, conversion, and long-term growth
Fewer compromises and less rework after launch
This option creates a cohesive, premium listening environment that aligns with the quality and scope of the Happy Sessions catalog.
Recommendation
While both approaches are viable, the upper range allows the site to launch fully formed and avoids limitations that often require revisiting structure, design, or features shortly after launch.
Payment Schedule
Clarifying scope, value, and what each investment level delivers
To keep the project moving smoothly and to reserve production time, payments are structured around the following milestones:
50%
KICKOFF
Covers discovery, planning, site architecture, and initial build setup.
30%
BUILD APPROVAL
Due once the design direction and core site build are approved and we move into final implementation.
20%
LAUNCH
Due when the site is ready to go live, including final polish and go-live support.
This milestone structure is standard for custom web projects and allows work to begin immediately while keeping everything aligned through launch.
Optional Support
Keeping everything running smoothly after launch
Because The Happy Sessions Listening Room includes e-commerce and digital downloads, it requires a higher level of care than a standard informational site. This optional service is designed to keep the site secure, updated, and performing reliably over time.
Care includes secure hosting, daily backups, and routine updates to WordPress, WooCommerce, and supporting plugins, along with monitoring for performance or checkout-related issues. This helps ensure the listening and purchasing experience remains consistent as software and devices evolve. It also allows small issues to be addressed before they become larger problems. Support remains flexible and can be revisited at any time.
$650 / year, billed annually.
Discovery, SEO & Audience Growth
Helping listeners find the music beyond the site itself
Because The Happy Sessions Listening Room is designed as an independent home for the Happy Sessions catalog, intentional discovery becomes an important part of long-term success.
Search engine optimization (SEO) helps ensure the site can be found organically by people actively searching for music, artists, or sessions related to Happy Sessions. This includes structuring catalog pages and content in a way that search engines understand and surface over time.
In addition to SEO, optional promotion through Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok can introduce the music to new listeners who may not encounter it otherwise, guiding them back to the site in a thoughtful and scalable way.
Neither approach is required for launch, but together they provide a clear path for discovery, growth, and sustainability. Any SEO strategy or promotional and advertising efforts would be scoped separately, based on goals, timing, and comfort level.
Moving Forward
Turning the vision into a live listening experience
Once scope is confirmed and an investment level is selected, the next step is to initiate the project using the milestone-based payment schedule outlined above.
From there, we’ll move into discovery and structure, finalize design direction, and begin building The Happy Sessions Listening Room with the full catalog in mind.
This approach keeps the process clear, efficient, and aligned from kickoff through launch.
If everything outlined here feels like the right fit, I’m ready to move forward and get the project on the calendar.
As part of kickoff, the project assumes that the primary domain (HappySessions.com) is secured and under client ownership. If the domain has not yet been purchased, I recommend doing so as soon as possible to avoid availability or transfer delays.
Let’s do this!
